Transport Navigator Sheets

These sheets cover information related to the Transport Navigator Module.

TN Settings

Purpose: Define global settings for the optimization, including solve time, time reference, and time display options.
Instructions: Fill in general settings, such as:

Field

Description

TN Solve Time

Time in seconds for the Transport Navigator to find the best solution.

Reference Date and Time

Starting date and time for the Transport Navigator optimization.

Include Week Number in Time Stamps

Indicates if week numbers should be included in timestamps.

Reset Duty Time at Warehouse

Resets the duty time when returning to the warehouse.

TN String Settings

Purpose: Define global text-based settings.
Instructions: Fill in general text-based settings, such as:

Field

Description

Volume UOM

Unit of measure for volume.

Weight UOM

Unit of measure for weight.

TN Periods

Purpose: Specify the time periods for the transport optimization, such as days of the week.
Instructions: Define the time periods to be used in the model. For each period, specify the TN Period name, Period Start, and Period End. Start and end times are expressed in hours relative to the Reference Date and Time, which is considered as hour 0.

TN Locations

Purpose: Define warehouse-related data, like operational constraints and cost parameters for each warehouse location.
Instructions: Input operational constraints and parameters associated with warehouse locations, such as:

Field

Description

Mode of Transport

The Mode of Transport that is used for routes from the warehouse location.

Maximum Duty Time

The maximum duty time (in minutes) before a layover is required.

Maximum Drive Time

The maximum drive time (in minutes) before a layover is required.

Minimum Layover Duration

The minimum duration of a layover (in minutes).

Maximum Layover Duration

The maximum duration of a layover (in minutes).

Cost Per Stop

The cost per stop made during the route.

Cost Per Dispatch

The cost for dispatching a vehicle from the warehouse.

Cost Per Layover

The cost per layover.

Cost Per Hour Late

The cost per hour of being late after the customer time window, calculated per minute.

Maximum Distance between Stops

The maximum distance between two (customer) stops.

Reloading Time Warehouse

The reloading time (in minutes) at a warehouse before a vehicle can depart again.

Maximum Number of Stops per Route

The maximum number of stops on a route before the truck needs to return to the warehouse.

TN Vehicle Groups

Purpose: For each vehicle, you can determine which vehicle group it belongs to.
Instructions: Assign vehicles to their respective groups by filling the Vehicle column with the appropriate group and entering the vehicle belonging to that group in the SubVehicle column. Each SubVehicle must be in a different row and the Active column must be set to 1.

TN Vehicles

Purpose: Define vehicle-related data, like operational constraints and cost parameters for each vehicle.
Instructions: Input operational constraints and parameters associated with vehicles, such as:

Field

Description

Reduced Capacity Per Stop

The amount by which the vehicle’s volume capacity decreases per stop on a multi-stop route.

Vehicle Capacity Weight

The weight capacity of the vehicle type, as specified in the weight unit of measure.

Vehicle Capacity Volume

The volume capacity of the vehicle type, as specified in the volume unit of measure.

Has Sleep Cabin

Indicates the availability of a sleep cabin in the vehicle type for layovers.

Cost Per Distance

The cost per unit of distance (kilometer or mile) for transportation.

Cost Per Day

The daily cost associated with owning or operating the vehicle.

Cost Per Hour

The cost per hour of duty time for operating the vehicle.

Grouping Code

A code used to group customers and assign them to a vehicle with a matching grouping code.

TN Customer Product

Purpose: Specify customer-level demand, service constraints, and routing preferences.
Instructions: Input all customer-specific demand, service constraints, routing preferences, and assigned warehouse locations:

Field

Description

Demand

The demand for each product per customer in the base unit of measure.

Demand Volume

The volume of product demand for each customer, specified in the volume unit of measure.

Demand Weight

The weight of product demand for each customer, specified in the weight unit of measure.

Effort

The effort required in the warehouse to pick, load, or process the order.

Service Time

The time in minutes required for service at the customer’s location, e.g., offloading.

Time Window Start

The earliest possible arrival time at the customer’s location, in hours from the period start.

Time Window End

The latest possible arrival time at the customer’s location, in hours from the period start.

Is First Stop

Indicates if the location must be the first stop on a route (1 for yes, 0 for no).

Is Last Stop

Indicates if the location must be the last stop on a route (1 for yes, 0 for no).

Grouping Code

A code to group customers for assigning to a vehicle with a matching grouping code.

Serviced by Warehouse Location

The warehouse location name that services the demand.

TN Fixed Routes

Purpose: Define fixed route stops that must be included in the solution, specifying the customer, stop location, and planning period.
Instructions: Enter the required stop details for fixed routes, including customer name, location, and the associated Transport Navigator period:

Field

Description

Customer Name

The name of the customer where a vehicle needs to stop on the fixed route.

Location Name

The name of the location where a vehicle needs to stop on the fixed route.

TN Period Name

The name of the Transport Navigator period during which a stop is made on the fixed route.
