Network Scenario

Note

A Network Scenario is a collection of Scenarios from various types, such as Supplier Scenario or Customer Scenario. Network Scenario and input dataset are combined to enable Batch Optimization. For more details on the hierarchy of Scenarios, refer to Scenario Handling.

If you simply want to apply different Scenarios and observe how they impact the input data, creating an explicit Network Scenario is optional. You can navigate through the pages for each Scenario type and apply Scenarios directly. Any Scenarios listed in the Editing Area are already applied to the input data. To see which Scenarios are active, hover over the Network Scenario area in the status bar. A tooltip will display the applied Scenarios, organized by type.

Alternatively, you can also save the current combination of Scenarios as an explicit Network Scenario. To do this, go to the Network page and click the edit_button button to switch to Edit Mode. The applied Scenarios will be pre-selected. Simply provide a name for this Network Scenario, add an optional description if desired, and click the Save button.

Once saved, the Network Scenario area in the status bar will update to reflect the active Network Scenario:

Page Layout

The Network page is divided into three main areas:

  1. Name Area: Displays the name and description of the Network Scenario.

  2. Function Area: Contains tools for searching, toggling views, editing, and creating Network Scenarios.

  3. Overview Area: Shows the Scenarios that make up the active Network Scenario.

Name Area

These fields in the Name Area will become editable after you click on the edit_button button:

  • Network Scenario Name: Displays the name of the current Network Scenario.

  • Description: Provides an optional description of the Network Scenario.

The Detail field is calculated automatically and indicates the total number of Scenarios included in the current Network Scenario.

Function Area

The Function Area provides tools for managing and interacting with Network Scenarios:

  • Search: Allows you to type keywords to highlight Scenarios containing relevant text.

  • View Toggle: The select_separatelists_button button lets you switch between the default separate list view and a single consolidated list view (which shows all Scenario types in one list).

  • Edit Button: The edit_button button enables editing of the current Network Scenario.

  • Create Button: The create_button button clears the current input, allowing you to create a new Network Scenario from scratch.

Item Action

When right clicking on a Scenario displayed in the Overview Area the options of View with Data and Remove from Network Scenario appear:

  • Remove from Network Scenario removes the Scenario from the active Network Scenario and consequently from the list in the Editing Area of the corresponding Scenario page, meaning that it is no longer applied to the data.

  • View with Data navigates to the corresponding Scenario page for that Scenario, where the user can inspect the impact that the Scenario has on the data, as well as take actions such as editing the Scenario.
