Tips and Limitations

This page helps you get better results from SENSAI Pro, and explains what it cannot do yet.

Best Practices for Using SENSAI Pro

To get the most out of SENSAI Pro, follow these best practices:

Be clear and specific

Use complete sentences and say exactly what you want:

  • Refer to warehouses, suppliers, customers, products and periods by the names used in your dataset, for example “Krems_FG” or “2023-H2”. If you name a place, such as “Amsterdam”, SENSAI Pro looks for the matching location in your data.

  • Say what should change, by how much, and where. For example, “Increase the transport cost by 5% for all Secondary Delivery LTL lanes in 2023-H2” is clearer than “Make transport more expensive”. If you leave out the period, product or step, SENSAI Pro applies the change to all of them.

  • Be precise when you copy. “Create a warehouse like Lyon_LDC in Turin” copies all of Lyon_LDC, including its capacity, costs and lanes. “Create a warehouse in Turin with the same lanes as Lyon_LDC” copies only the lanes.

Focus on one thing at a time

Keep unrelated tasks in separate requests, so each report is easy to check. One task can still have several steps:

  • SENSAI Pro changes the data without running the optimization, unless you ask for a run. To do both, say so in one request, for example “Close Lyon_LDC, run the model and save the results as No Lyon”.

  • If you want to compare runs later, ask SENSAI Pro to save each run under a clear name, such as “Base” or “Demand plus 5%”.

Ask follow-up questions

If an answer is unclear or only partly answers your question, ask SENSAI Pro to elaborate. For example: “Show this in a table”, “Show the cost per period” or “Which cost type changed the most?”. Ask “List all changes you have made so far” to review what it changed in your current session.

Rephrase if needed

If SENSAI Pro misunderstands a request, reword it, add more context, or use the terms shown in SC Navigator, such as the attribute names on the data pages.

Understand current capabilities

Know what SENSAI Pro can and cannot do:

  • It works on your data: it looks up and changes input data, creates new entities, runs the optimization, and compares results at KPI level. See Work with Your Data and Optimize and Analyze.

  • It does not have access to the SC Navigator documentation, so it cannot explain how to use the application.

  • Ask “Undo the last change” to revert a data edit. Creating new entities and copying data cannot be undone. See Review and Undo Changes.

  • AI responses may contain errors. Check what it reports before you base decisions on it.

Limitations

SENSAI Pro has the following limitations:

Results at KPI level only

SENSAI Pro can read KPI-level results, as listed under Compare Results. It cannot read results per warehouse, lane, customer or location. For example, it can tell you how many warehouses are open, but not which ones. Use the Results pages for these details.

Some data is read-only

SENSAI Pro can create warehouses, suppliers, production facilities, locations, Bills of Material and transport lanes, but it cannot add products, periods, customers or modes of transport, or move entities in or out of a group, such as moving a customer to another customer group. It also cannot change location details, such as a location’s country, or the start and end of periods. Make these changes in your input data, then reload the dataset.

Not all changes can be undone

Creating new entities, copying data, model runs and saved results cannot be undone. Only data edits can. See Review and Undo Changes.

Scenarios are not created in Scenario Navigator

SENSAI Pro saves the results of a model run, which it may call a scenario in its replies. It does not create scenarios in Scenario Navigator, such as Customer, Network or Control Panel scenarios.

No guidance on using SC Navigator

SENSAI Pro does not have access to the SC Navigator documentation, so it cannot explain how to use the application, for example how to upload a dataset or where to find a page. For these questions, use this documentation or click Help at the bottom right of the display.

SENSAI Pro can make mistakes

Always check what SENSAI Pro reports, especially before you base decisions on the results.
